It took me AGES to get into Third and then I did but I still like Dummy and S/T better :thumb:

and yeah, more of that. because I haven't heard anything quite like them. There are the usual trip-hop suspects, but not one has this effect on me I think

I like all their records and have never really understood why people don't rate Third or think it's that different. I usually say to people that I like trip-hop but in reality only listen to Portishead, some Massive Attack albums and the occasional Boards Of Canada (if you can count them in).

When I was a youngster I bought massive attack's 100th window on vinyl. I'd never heard them before and wasn't sure which speed to play it at...
It was rad.

i love boards of canada but don't feel they're anything alike. massive attack i've never gotten too into aside from mezzanine. tricky is not really my thing... he puts out an album and i'll like like 3 tracks on it.

Certainly not the same, but something in me keeps wanting to suggest How to Destroy Angels.

i love trent's work until after the fragile. i even put him in my 3 famous musicians i'd love to meet / hang / work with. but god, everything after the fragile except for the social network soundtrack...

I agree, to a degree. The Fragile is my favorite NIN. I thought the Lost Highway soundtrack a near masterpiece. HtDA is not that Trent. They verge on Pop, at times. However, there is something in the mood, or spirit, that reminds me of Portishead.

Do you think of him as more of a musician or a producer?
