I usually don't make a huge deal about Si vs Ge because often the versions are a pretty close conversion--a bit different, but strong enough family resemblance. The Ge Companion, though, is a very different animal from the Si version. Well, theoretically--the schematic is out there but I'm still not sure if anyone has ever spotted it in the wild. Only demo I'm aware of off the top of my head is by Joe Gore for his Tonefiend blog, also available on YouTube, based on a DIY build he did. It sounded somewhere in the zone of a germ Fuzzrite crossed with a pissed off MKII Tonebender. I actually didn't quite love that build as it was--way more angry proto metal gain than I would ever use, but it's clean-up behavior was really textural in ways like a good Fuzzrite does. Really low-gain leaky germanium transistors rejected for other builds would probably work very well in that circuit to mellow it out a bit. I guess I could try it with low gain silicon, but I just haven't bothered with sourcing Ge transistors so I haven't gone there yet.sepherus wrote:Gone, the EQD Terminal is based on the Companion/Jax fuzz iirc. I think it's Si though. Still a really cool sounding fuzz.

Yes, yes I can!sepherus wrote:The Frazz is super cool from what I've seen. I love the clean blend and the 2 gain/gate options. I'll have to see if he can put the Bass trim as an external pot. Goroth, could you possibly do something down tuned around c# with singles
Gimme a week or two. Lemme know if you have any favourite riffs and I'll put them in there for ya

Re: Help me pick my next fuzz
Welp, I just found out that a certain online retailer had 20% off this week, and the Frazz was in stock and eligible. It should be here in a few days.
This thread had done a few things.
A) convinced me to buy a Frazz Dazzler
2) introduced me to Basic Audio, who I want like everything they make, particularly the Shore Bird (while I love most things about most Rats, this one seems to take the cake with the fat knob and cleaner bottom)
However it had not
· helped me cure my Tone Bender gas.
Overall, I'd still call it a win.

That's doing it right man!
I've also got Bender gas. Wouldn't mind that blackout fuzz bear thing, which seems to be a tricked out bender.

Done! Dunno if the bass is tight enough on the frazz, but I'll see what happens. Copilot tourbox just arrived today so that's first on the to-do list.

Well, poop. They apparently don't have it in stock and refunded me. I found a Park Fuzz on eBay for about 25 off. Hopefully that goes through.
Goroth, just some heavy power cords, and maybe some minor keyed arpeggios with the dry mixed in. Much appreciated.

So I got Park on Tuesday. I ended up ordering a Frazz weds and got it Friday. I'm loving then both, and they both hit the board to stay for now. I did find a crazy deal on a Wampler Leviathan now.... If only I could make sure the package came when the lady isn't home....

Always liked the demos I've heard of the Leviathan.
Also, go nuts on the mix knob on the frazz. It makes for awesome stacking possibilities.

Re: Help me pick my next fuzz
The leviathan kicks ass. The EQ is great and it has a lot of output and gain range. I love it at least. It doesn't seem to have got a lot of attention here though, maybe cause Wampler are more active on the TGP forums than here.

Oh yeah, it's pretty sweet. I'm yet to actually blend it with any of my high gain preamps, just other pedals so far distortion and fuzz. I've mostly been using them with a Deluxe type module or a Supro type. I've got one of those Randall MTS amps, and tons modules, mostly modified. They get me 90%+ on most sounds. Some I even like better than the real deal.

You and me both. I am running Orange and Hiwatt preamps from Salvation and I am still shocked at how good they sound.

Park Fuzz
Frazz Dazzler
EQD Terminal
My vote would be for the Frazz
it's really good
really really good
although I have never played bad EQD dirt....ever
