How do you all even know all that stuff about JHS? I never knew any of that. (Besides maybe the cloning deal, but I kind of agree with popvulture about the ambiguity of where to draw the line.)

I tend to buy gear from bigger companies (much cheaper) but I don't know anything about the ethics of their figureheads and its never something I've even considered looking into. Is everyone just a way more socially conscious buyer than I am?

That said, the bashing over him using other people's circuits, etc has always really thrown me off, seeing that the pedal industry seems so based on modifying if not simply replicating classic designs. I always thought—why don't people who make TS9 clones get hated on more? Tonebenders? Muffs? And while we're getting mad about people who steal other people's ideas, should we avoid Jimmy Page and Keith Richards? Rock n' Roll in general? It all seemed so fucking tiring. I get it, but I guess I've just never been willing to go that all in on the authenticity debate. Now, Devi not delivering on the Console—that seems like much more of a clear reason for people to get pissed.

No. The problem is the owner claiming (at least in 95% of his pedals) that they have "worked for years" on the circuit of their pedals.
Weeks after every release, the truth comes to light.... Just another straight clone.

The other 5% comes with pretentious wordings raving about originality and 100% designed in Murrica, but they have been admitting that they were "inspired" by _ _ _ _ circuit.

For the record: I don't give a fuck what religion anyone is. It especially doesn't matter what faith my pedal or guitar manufacturer has. There are plenty of pedals on my board that were built by people who are very religious. Doesn't matter. I specifically dislike JHS because they are duplicitous, hateful, awful people. Hell, the NAME OF THE FUCKING COMPANY IS STOLEN!!! Seriously, the Colour Box could be the best pedal of all time, but as long as they make it, I won't even watch demoes. Fuck JHS.

After reading through this thread it has become apparent to me that a builders (and anyone they may come into contact with) religious/spiritual/geo-gender-political ideologies are very important to perspective buyers. As such I must confess, I employ monkeys to build my pedals but I don't believe in evolution.

I think the insinuation that people dislike a company exclusively for its religiosity is relatively insulting to anyone who puts a modicum of thought into where their money goes when it's spent, particularly when it comes from people who prove themselves to be gratuitously oblivious to the facts that are available to them.

I don't like idiots, and I don't like idiots who are inescapably loud with their drooling. Sorry if that offends anyone.
