TC Delays do not self-oscillate.

The in limbo sounds insanely good and is extremely versatile. That cannot be said of very many analogue delays.

I have an Alter Ego X4 and have used it extensively. It's a great product (all the TC X4 ones are!). But I have to admit, I've been GASing for a Moby Dick since it was released, really, and owning the AEX4 didn't make the GAS go away!

I do have a Hungry Robot Stargazer so I can vouch for the quality of HR in general. Great build quality and unique sound, not cookiecutter.

Just Googling the In Limbo now, absolutely insane looking!

Thanks for the offer D.o.S, but the timebender isn't on the top of the list right now.

So, the Limbo II is completly on the top of my list. Looks completly insane.
I asked for a shipping quote but it can be very expansive if I have to pay taxes.
I also have the Moby Dick, not analogue and the modulation are not so crazy. I also want a dual Hungry Robot OD from Eric.

A friend of mine was just wondering why there were 3 alter ego x4 on the market in France. That's pretty much for this type of delay. It's a good occasion to pick one up but why do they sell them?

Probably because once you buy the Alter Ego X4, you love it, but you immediately want to upgrade to the TC Triple Delay.

Triple Delay can run three distinct delays simultaneously or into each other. Lately I've been seeing a lot of all-in-one swell/ambient machines (i.e. Midnight30's Starry Serenity pedal or Foxpedal's The Wave) and I honestly think they go back to the Triple Delay. It's a sick pedal. There's not much it can't do. So while the AEX4 is great, it can only run one delay at a time, and you sort of feel the itch to upgrade right away.

That's my personal take on it, anyway.

BTW, another pretty awesome, but hella expensive, delay is the Empress Superdelay. Listen to the sound samples on their site and you get an idea of how versatile it can be. Much like the Flashback/Alter Ego, you can also get it in a "vintage-voiced" version. The scratch and dent ones are $50 off on the site. Made in Canada, too!

The Superdelay was on my list too and I missed 2 used units in the same month at 240€, pretty cheap but the only others I find are 280€ or more expansive.

I wonder why I can't simply buy a Moby Dick (digital tape-like with tap tempo, subdivision and modulation) and buy a small analog when I have the money for it (begin 2016). So no need for presets, I have 2 sounds at my feet. I just don't know if I can have place for both on my board.

Flashback X4 was one of the worst pedals I ever owned and is the reason I will never own another TC pedal. About as well made as a Joyo.

That's what I was gonna suggest. I used to have a VMSD, and while it was all kinds of awesome, it's a hige pita to use. So since my list of requirement was pretty long too, so I eventually replaced the ridiculously user unfriendly superdelay for two seperate pedals, which gives me more versatility than the superdelay. Plus enough mpney left for another fuzz pedal :)

As great as the superdelay is, it can't reverse an analog delay with modulation, and it can't loop a ping pong delay or whatever. That's all stuff you can do with two $120 delay pedals :idk:

Splitting it up in two seperate pedals gives someone with strict requirements a lot more choice, for less monies. Imo, dispite it's space ship -like user interface, the superdelay is packed with REALLY convincing analog emulation as well as a bunch of other very useable tricks. Which is -if I had the money- I'd look for a good deal for an Empress Tape Delay. That, and a EHX MM w/ Hazarai, and I'd have a fucking killer delay arsenal that'd probably whipe the floor with whatever ilf boutique pedlol or big ass all-in-one modeler.

The digitech timebender sorta combines the user friendlyness and footprint of a small digital delay with the versatility and trippyness of a Space/Time Factor -like pedals. And It's cheaper too :p

Surprised by this. Not discounting your experience though. What was wrong with it? I've never had a TC pedal that wasn't built like a tank.

Thin sounding and audible hiss on several modes, 2 switches went bad, and the selector knob. Three servicings in one year on a unit bought new. Never gigged, never abused. Two lemon Dittos, too. Never again.

That sucks, bro! Literally the opposite of my experience. Guess it just wasn't meant to be.

Thanks everyone for the help. I had to make a quick decision whereas I was thinking for weeks before I opened this thread.
I order a Moby Dick from Hungry Robot. I have a very good feeling with Eric. He seems to be a good guy and takes time to talk and to answer all my questions. It's easy to join him via Facebook.

I hope so.
I saw there were huge discount on the alter ego x4 at musicstore.de
So cheap it will never be again in the future, but too late.

Moby Dick ordered this morning and it's been building today, probably shipped tomorrow.
Eric has just build a "huge" batch for a shop this week and could put me on the building list today.
