Srry. There should be one of those 'ba dum pssh' smily emoticon thingies to point out the lameness.
Oh well, a good old  will have to do.

Guess my comment struck some nerves. Again; it was just my personal thought and opinion.

As far as P&W goes, I was just making a generalization. I listen to that 60 cycle hum podcast (tgp p&w dudes) and they do sport some really cool gear.

Goroth: no one has said CGC isn't a rad brand in this thread. They are!

Yeah, I'm sure that's just it. Most of the time I feel like I'v got to have the most boring taste/style in music in this intire forum

Still though, I'm always open to new stuff. If you -or anyone else for that matter- can turn me on to some bands that might inspire me to use different/weirder effects: Lemme know. Any excuse to buy more toys is always welcome :p

I think CME just got their batch earlier than other retailers. Caroline have posted several different finishes on Instagram.
Wish I could have afforded a second one, because that CME finish is gorgeous.

Oh, thanks, gotcha. I wasn't paying super close attention. So, that finish is just exclusive to CME. :thumb:

foomanfat wrote:Also, seeing the classifications of "blues lawyers and 'extreme' P&W" in regards a pedal that I like a lot is very frustrating.
Personally, I tend toward "is 'useable'/gets weird," rather than "is weird/can be tamed." Different strokes and all.
I've definitely been there with you before—it sucks to feel like something you like is getting judged by the overall club mentality of a message board, whether it be TGP's or ILF's. Each has its own rules that can get more than a bit obnoxious at times.

Personally, TGP drives me bananas more often than not. That said, I do like conventional sounds quite a bit... I don't, however, remotely give a shit about Archer vs KTR vs how does a Timmy sound stacked into three other Timmys. Conversely, I can feel completely out of place on ILF at times, simply because I'm usually not questing after the most glitchy/fucked up/extreme weird sounds. I like a little bit of both.

Considering all of that, I try to remember that any message board usually features a bunch of stubbornly opinionated, chest-puffing statements that nobody would ever have the balls to utter in normal conversation. Boards are useful guides, but obviously ears make the best final decisions as to what's good. I think Caroline makes great shit, and Philippe seems like a rad fucking guy. Of course that's just my opinion, too... not like I'm schooling anyone here and laying down the ultimate truth.

And for what it's worth, I may make fun of P&W guys a lot and think that God has no place in Rock n' Roll (or really any place for me personally), but don't think it's right to automatically deny patronage to a company simply because they're Christian.

Say what you want about the P&W guys, Hungry Robot is an insanely good company, with only completely original circuits and aesthetic. I wouldn't hesitate to support anything they do. I own their Stargazer and can't imagine replacing it with any other reverb at this point (BigSky excluded, naturally, but that would apply to literally any other reverb pedal, too). Thinking about getting the Starlite and Moby Dick, too.

But, note that Eric doesn't exploit his customers by making his company overtly Christian (this is from my interview with him):
With a fast-growing subset of the pedal market being comprised of worship leaders and guitarists, it would be quite convenient to make it abundantly clear that I am a fellow Christian operating a pedal company. However, since I started Hungry Robot Pedals, I have felt the conviction that using my faith as a marketing strategy would be exploiting my faith for my own personal profit.

No idea why I felt so compelled to go on a mild rant there. Y'all been playing Fallout 4? Anybody else having fun giving drugs to Mama Murphy?

Good points, popvulture.

I'm not really a glitcher myself, but I do enjoy listening to other people make glitchy music.

I think everybody wants a "useable" pedal most of the time, but usability depends greatly on context.

PV - good points.

But:

Some people, like Eivind, are making out there music and they need some out there tools. A lot of people aren't. Folks are probably using an OD, distortion, basic delay or whatever. But why bother talking about it? Fine, you can argue about secret sauce clipping diodes until the cows come home, but somewhere along the line the returns are going to get infinitesimally small (both in terms of the conversation and the sound haha). So it's kind of natural that folks who are into sounds want to talk about new sounds. At the moment glitch is a thing, but that's the last year or two. Before that it was something else, and before that it was something else. But the common element is that the basic stuff doesn't get a lot of air time (unless it happens to do it in a novel way, or do something else).

It's like anything. Take fancy hamburgers for example. No-one is going to go and discuss triple cooked fries ad nauseum, or that the meat strands are lined up like Heston has inculcated everyone to do. That's a given. But if you put fucking salty licorice sauce on a burger, and make it taste decent while you're doing it, then that's going to be a talking point. Even though the meal is largely comprised of the fries and the ground meat.

So don't feel all out of it because you don't use glitch - it's just this forum's current way of exploring a new way of making noise, but what I like about here is that people tend to be interested in sonic exploration and not dogma. Which is why we don't see timmy vs ts9 (RI) vs ts9 (original) vs some other shit heap overpriced overdrive debates. Because nice od is nice. That burger is good with Angus, it's good with Hereford. Good burger is good burger. Decent OD is decent OD. Use it. Rock out. Have awesome fun! Now lets start talking about the sonic equivalent of salty licorice on a burger!
