you literally just described the Wattson EFY-6, dawg.digi2t wrote:The particular thing with the Superfuzz circuit is the transistors used makes a huge difference. The higher the gain of transistors, the splattier it gets. From my experience, you can go all the way from a "Muff with a hint of Tone machine" sound, all the way to a "blast 'o hiss before roar of power chord". The spectrum is very wide. Personally, I've experimented quite a bit with it, and I'm more of a low gain transistor fan. I prefer a more instant response when bashing a chord. As for the octave section, well matched transistors, with a trimmer for balancing, works for me. Lift the clipping diodes a bit from ground helps give a bit more grunt as well. Add a variable scoop control, and you're in business.
In the end, you might as well be better off hitting the Shark Tank, and get a reputable builder to customize one for you. As for me, my Photonic Superfuzz fulfills all that I desire in a Superfuzz.

Re: super fuzz fix
Been really digging the SS/BS Buzzz lately. SUPER HUGE plus pretty handy controls, the Ge/Si switch is also awesome for getting more pronounced octaves, cleaner sound etc.
Just recently got a Maxon Elements Ether, which is also really nice because of the one band parametric EQ. I would appreciate at least two bands, but that's besides the point - the idea is great and the pedal sounds awesome as well
really dig the Superfuzz pedals on bass... It actually fills a hole on my board between the OD sound I get from Elements and the extremely fat, compressed tone I get from my Huge Box II - I wanted to get a less compressed, more grindy and open fuzz tone out of it and I find it really awesome for that purpose (especially with the Expander around noon)
