Re: Snazzy FX
Yea, the 8-step doesn't work at all. You'll get a little change but not much. Broadcast is much more effective (as I would assume stuff from Moog or other modular gear).Ugly Nora wrote:I thought my cv wasn't working so I emailed him and he gave me some suggestions on knob placement and explained how it works. I'll post that info later. I didn't try his suggestions yet. I know he said the 8 Step is not a good one to use for whatever reason. I can't remember.
The cv is normalized...so 1 LFO controls 2 two controls. When you plug in one CV, the internal LFO is still on for the other control (tilt is CV and bias is internal LFO). Two CV sources replaces the internal LFO completely.
You've got to think of the controls as adjustments on how the source control interacts with the incoming signal. Kind of like the center or neg/pos control on an old flanger (center on the old Morley Phasers and Flangers). It is really interesting and awesome...it really helps set the way the signal will be affected and it allows you to use different sources and adjust for them.
I just think that the internal LFO has a nice, different shape to it that works well.

Re: Snazzy FX
Yea, I think that is the problem with the 8-step...the signal is too short...just like 5ms pulse instead of being a constant voltage. I think Moogs do have more range, but putting some attenuation or something in there might help (kind of like turning the depth way down on the goatkeeper).
I'm all outta 1/8" cords though...gotta go get some. I'm having fun with it though. Trying to find some good pairings right now.

Re: Snazzy FX
I want to say I went through most of the settings, but I only used one side of the source switch and didn't use the CV ins, so lots more to be explored..I obviously need to up my recording and guitar game, but you can get a general idea of how the fuzz/modulation sound (being pushed by a holy mountain).

Re: Snazzy FX
Man, this thing really grows on ya. I had my weird first impression but once kinda dialing it in, instant riff inspirato (haha, I'm not GMD). Yea, this thing is a blast. Great demo resin!
It's the first "trem" I've ever enjoyed. Really liking more and more. Some awesome kind of doubling doppler effects/mild vibrato in there along with some buzzy distorted not regular sweeps.
I kinda changed one of my riffs I've been toying with for the thing and gave it more "space" instead of trying to be crusty devo with no talent trying to sound like GBH...sounds nice and really made me approach things a little different (and get back some of my old ring mod style I lost over the years)...

Re: Snazzy FX
Anyone notice the carrier noise when the pedal's bypassed (related possibly to where the feedback control is set)? Oh well, to the TB looper with ye! My other quibbles are with the artwork and the hi/lo switch function seeming to be the reverse of its label.
Besides that, lots of ring mod/pseudo octave/trem and non-trem goodness. It also reminds me a little bit of when I had a Spaceman Effects Wow Signal for a minute, with the added benefit of setting the modulation off or increasing the speed beyond to ring mod levels. There's a setting or two in there where it gets into Antichthon territory: digging in yields a fuller fuzz sound, backing off allows the trem to take over. I've been digging more broken cruddy textures lately & this pedal does some of the trick, by golly, and I don't even have a CV controller for this thing! (likely missing out on some features here, but eh)

Re: Snazzy FX
yes, actually! I freaked out when I first noticed and removed everything else in the chain before messing with the feedback knob
it was maxed when I got the bleed, but I haven't been able to replicate it after that, even when maxing out the feedback. I think I had it on a daisy chain then; are you getting that noise when using the power supply included? (or just a 200 ma output for that matter) I set it up on it's own isolated 100 ma output and it's been fine since.
this thing is surprisingly rad with anything else besides a guitar

Re: Snazzy FX
It seems like I can hear it in bypass only while it's in the hi gain mode, and I do have it connected to an isolated (Voodoo Power 2) 100 mA power source. Cranking the volume of a dirt pedal after it or the amp volume it becomes more audible; bringing the feedback down can bring it out of audibility. Ah well, neat pedal regardless!

Re: Snazzy FX
I have that problem with a few different pedals here recently...my Sick Pitch King is doing that recently as are a few others...it seems to happen more in pedals that have higher CV voltages and stuff (carrier oscillators and the like). Probably has to do with the switch and the distance of the throw? Either that or somekind of bleed interference? Just seems weird that they are always these kind of pedals? haha..I don't know really though...'tis is a fun pedal though.taco satori wrote:It seems like I can hear it in bypass only while it's in the hi gain mode, and I do have it connected to an isolated (Voodoo Power 2) 100 mA power source.
