Marshall regenerator?

Post by frigid midget »

For someone who's not that into modulation, would it make sense to save board space and monies by replacing his analog phaser and chorus peds with the regenator?

I hardly ever use the chorus, and the phaser even less. But the rare time I do use em, I appreciate the fact that they don't sound cheesy, metallic, etc, unlike a couple phaser/chorus peds I had in the past. So I don't want to make too much compromises tone whise either.

It's a bit smaller and easier to dial in that those multi peds from zoom or the line6 M5.

So what say you ilf, yay or nay?

I've got one of these pedals but rarely use it - the choruses on it are nice and clean, the phaser and flanger are reasonable but the thing that I find really hard to deal with are the chrome knobs. I thought these were really cool at the time of purchase, but I find it really hard to see what setting they are on (OK age and eyesight aren't in my favour here) and I definitely prefer pedals with clear high contrast indicators these days. I think if you rarely use modulation then it could be a good plan - the chorus on this pedal is the best of the options in my opinion and I've only recently replaced it with an old Ibanez chorus that is much stronger and weirder and more to my tastes :) I find the flanger and phaser too bland and digital (in a boring way; half my pedals are digital but this one lacks personality to me) however I do like my pedals to be extreme and weird and my guitar to rarely sound like a guitar so I am rather biased.

Thanks.

I agree on the knobs, that's what annyed me on the JH-1 I used to have. There's not many alternatives out there that are that cheap and have stereo outs, expression in,...So I guess I could live with the shitty controls.

Not yet sure if the sounds in that thing won't make me miss my CE-2 and DOD FX20 though...:s

Whatever, I could just grab a cheap used one and not flip anything else for now, and than get rid of the RG-1 if I don't get along with it.
