Arturia Beatstep Pro

Post by Faldoe »

Who's got one? Thinking of getting one. Would use it with a Volca Keys, Novation K Station, some other stuff.

What are the strengths/weaknesses of it? I don't have any modular synth gear right now. Maybe in the future. Most of the gear I'll be using can be controlled via MIDI but I'm kind of wanting to avoid using a computer and see what I could do with something like the BSP.

I have no direct experience but there is a recent Gearslutz thread noting that it is less useful than a brick.

It doesn't matter when it's Arturian, baby!
This is a very impressive collection of Roto Toms. That's 21 Roto Toms in all. That is only $33.00 a Roto Tom.

On the other hand, I know people who've ditched Ableton for it. :idk:

Gearslutz has a bunch of whiny, entitled complainers.

The BSP is dope, it does a bunch of things well, is fast to work with and there will be more firmware updates too.

Oh, I totally agree with that re: GS but when looking for a sequencer I would be hesitant on something that is noted for timing issue on clock, and I would also not bank on firmware updates that may never come.

I believe the clock issues were handled with a firmware update. Unfortunately people need to erase the patterns made before the update.

Also, I agree on not buying something on the promise of firmware updates but this is an established company and clock is vital to a sequencer so they have to get that right.

When I used a BSP, I only used the CV and all worked fine, no clock issue.

Can it record midi from the midi out of a keyboard? I'd like to be able to play the keys of my synth, have the BSP capture that Midi data and then spit it back out via midi into that same synth.
