I actually laughed out loud at this.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is incredible. I have watched it a hundred times. Several times with his commentary. Danny's composing, lyrics, singing, all on point. And the Harry Potter theme. Without Danny Elfman those movies would not be as good. You see Hogwarts, aerial view panning around the castle, and that waltzy, creepy theme comes on. Count me in.

Yeah post-rock can get old quick, but when actually done well (not often), it still kills me.

The first four Mogwai albums are great. Happy Songs is probably one of my 10 favorite albums ever made. Everything since is basically meh. I've always been utterly meh about Explosions and Godspeed. Jakob is great. Russian Circles never overly impressed me on their albums, but they kicked my ass sideways when I saw them live last year in Harvard Sq. Pelican is a band that I always think I like until I actually start listening to them, and then I get bored about 5-6 minutes in.

Yeah HiH is probably the 'best' Mogwai record ever since they started making records you won't like if you only like old Mogwai.

Also, I like the recent Mogwai stuff, Hardcore Will Never Die, Rave Tapes, Les Revanants, better than anything they've done.

Les Revenants is one hell of a TV show, and Mogwai had a lot to do with that, IMO.

I've been kind of meh on Mogwai since Rock Action, although I agree that Mr. Beast and Hawk have their moments. So file me under "prefer older stuff"

Still a great live band, though.
