Fuzz/Distortion Quest.

I need to find a fuzz/distortion pedal that is, for lack of a better term, polyphonic. I'll be running a bunch of synths/oscillators + vocals into it at the end of a chain and it needs to maintain a measure of clarity. What do you fellas think would be my best option? (Right now I'm using a borrowed Russian Big Muff that would reasonably well but I need something with a bit more insanity).

Hmmm... insanity + clarity? That's kind of a toughie. Have you thought of splitting your signal two or three ways, so you could mix varying levels of distortion?

My first thought was the Red Panda Bitcrusher - it's not a typical distortion, but there's a lot of flexibility in how much crush you add, there's TONS of potential insanity what with the LFO & envelope & multiple wave-forms. Also, if you buy a stereo dock for it, that'll allow you to split the signal right there, for adding more fuzz or what-have-you.

TFP's The Goose has a lot of clarity, and you can make it octavia or oscillate very easily on the fly. It's one of my favorite fuzzes. Haven't tried it with synths or drones yet. It can get kind of heavy, but eh.. not really. Still worth a shot.

yeah, Jrmy was right on with the signal splitting tip, because you can blend in a clean, or maybe the Rockbox boiling point overdrive, not so much a Dist. or Fuzz, but the assymetry might get you where you want to go. Sounds like you are looking for a Fuzz that will handle Polyphony rather than create layers of it right ?!? sorry, as always when I am giving directions it seems as though I am pointing all over the horizon , <chuckles> , ahhh , love me them forums for a good pick me up.

I've SERIOUSLY considered this. At $134, that's a steal.

The cool thing about the bigger guy is that it has a clean blend, and a ton more features.

Seems like EXACTLY what you need. Or you could get the bass distortion multiwave.
