Saw one of these in a shop in Dallas the other day and thought it looked pretty:

It's a Shinola Bixby. They also make really nice watches. Not cheap (in fact, way too much money), but almost made me want to buy a bicycle…

not to start with...but i developed a system and moded one of the pedals.

i had one foot always in, so never took it even when stoped at traffic lights (only when i needed to)...the other foot was my free foot. But for that free foot flicking the pedal (because its allways upside down due to weight of the strap) was difficult, and i couldnt get the grip in needed to flip it. So what i did was put a screw in the pedal, so the sharp end of the screw would be where i would grip to flip the pedal. I'm not talking about the whole screw protruding out, myabe a third of centimeter...enough for the sole of my shoes to grip onto it.

i didnt notice other people doing this...maybe it was because i rode with vans, and the grip on the soles are rubbish...either way it worked for me...and every time i took off, it was a quick flick and both feet where in the straps.

Was thinking about getting a BMX bike as a spare. Should I get something like this instead?

Here are my two cross bikes. The Chinese cf is my main go every where gravel bike. Fuji for racing. Only been out a couple times in the past couple months though from shitty hernia repair recovery.

These two in particular have really caught my eye:

These are sweet, I've never seen that Salsa before. Those guys have a bunch of really cool 'alt' bikes. I really like the continental divide race bike and the gravel/adventure bikes they offer. I had a salsa mukluk last year but sold it a little while ago.
