I would love for the guitar player to get dirtier or even throw a fuzz into the mix but still love this guys.
What are your favorite japanese math rock band, song or album?

Listen to Tricot. Tricot is the best j-math band by miles, in my opinion.

I have more, but I'll have to dig for them and post them later.

I had forgotten about Tricot, they are aces!
Also, Toe's new album "Hear You" is badass.

I saw Sajjanu live a few years ago and they were quite good. Also saw one of the side projects from at least one of them at another concert but I forgot the name of the band...

Here's a random live video :

Sajjanu are great! Love their style.

Nuito is also a really awesome band. Or were, I think they only put out one album. Others that might be interesting are 3nd, Loqto, Ordinary Happy, and Lite. Oh, and Marmalade Butcher are cool as well.

All of this stuff is great...really digging Low-Pass. And the timing of this thread is fortuitous, what with me just discovering some really awesome J-pop.

I like nuito, LITE, mouse on the keys, tricot, rega, toe, 3nd.

And the not trve OMG dual tappingz math rock: NATSUMEN, sgt., té, miaou, mirror, ruins, killie, 3cm tour, midori. Some of the 9mm Parabellum Bullet is cool stuff too.

Nuito is still a thing but i think it might just be the guitar player now? He's been working on another album which is apparently not too far off. Very keen.
Sajjanu just released their new one like yesterday, i think it's on bandcamp now. :joy:

I'm glad nobody mentioned ハイスイノナサyet cos now i can be the first to gush about my favourite fucking band ever.

My fave band in Japan at this time might be:

Enjoy! This track is more bore-y, others are more thrashy, some are pretty tight mathy, all have power and creativity.

Radwimps may not be mathrock per se, but the influence is so there and so so delicious. :snax:
