NSTD! Something popped up. :o

Post by The Mad Titan »

So got this in the mail a cpl weeks ago, and have gotten to put it through its paces.

Image

So far it's been excellent. Super fast tracking even on lower tunings (I went as low as B on my LP with a 12-54 set), and deadly accurate. My guitars have never sounded this perfectly in tune without me going back after I "tuned up" and making micro-adjustments by reference tuning against the second string down's 12th fret harmonic to get it tight.

I don't get some peoples claims that it's harder to use a true strobe tuner. Seems the most intuitive thing in the world to me. :idk:

I also did a new set up on my SG with it, and the fast tracking and accuracy made setting the intonation an absolute breeze.

As long as it holds up and doesn't shit the bed I can't see myself ever being less than happy as a clam with this little box. It's so damn small and cute, and thanks to the size I didn't even have to move a single thing on my pedal board for it! :!!!:

I got a super deal ($89) on mine as it was the last of the blems (which I didn't see any on mine), but they're very reasonably priced at $119.00. For a little more you could also always get the SR Turbo Tuner Mini, but not sure if it's as small as this guy (think it is). The SR Mini is a bit more full featured, but truthfully this is all I could ever need short of me opening a guitar repair shop (and even then I think it would work just fine for all my needs).

Don't happen to have a bass you can tune with it, eh?

I thought this was a thread about testing positive for an STD. I'm glad it's not

All the tuners I have have "worked" for bass, but seem to do a much slower/sloppier job of tracking. The Pitch Black wasn't bad but not the best. & my TU-3 kinda sucks, it give me a steady read out like 1/3 of the time.

i have that tuner in clip-on form. It works with everything I've tried it on so far, and it's very accurate. I think I paid 35€ for mine.

That would be correct, but I can't see it being an issue. It mutes the output when the tuner is on (though since I use a pedal switcher and feed it an aux out signal I have to hit standby), and the display is nice, large, and easy to read in the dark.

Yeah, my Korg would start having fits when I got around C#-C. This one is just as fast at low B as it is at low E on my guitar. Next time I get a chance to I'll try it with bass and report on it.

Weeeird. Are you sure it isn't an input thing?

Maybe I'm just too lenient with my expectations for tuners.

I get tuners to work best for my bass by pickly lightly and steady, seems to work better than sustained notes. if you're in a pinch you could tune the G and then tune from there using the matching harmonics on the 5th and 7th frets

My boss TU-2 did go kinda screwy on my wife's univox short scale. I thought it was more of the pickup's/guitar's problem than the tuner...but I did have an old korg that was completely worthless at tuning anything (couldn't track even high output humbuckers...but it was a cheap not pedal one). The jazz bass tunes fine. Polytune is quicker than my tu-2 though.
