I thought about buying an el cap, but I'm not sure I like delay enough to justify the price. Anyone know of other delays that I can use as fake vibrato pedals if I turn the mix fully wet and delay time really short? I think most delays can probably do this if they have a mix knob right?
I do that with the Timefactor(H9), every delay mode goes to 0ms and most of them have any sort of modulation.
I have a "Phaser" preset that goes down to 0.01hz, slower than any of the algorithms from the Modfactor. Funny.

Ibara for PS2 sells for $100 or more and it is terrible.
Awesome that you got some good STGs around you. Wish I could still play them but my eyes ain't what they used to be! 1cc some Gradius, Dodonpachi, Dangun Feveron, etc are some of my videogame favorite achievements. But Battle Garegga is rough with its rank system and I have a hard time getting to level two. Pink Sweets, Armed Police Batrider, and Bakraid are all a blast too.
Man, going to go get my Saturn out (or dreamcast)! haha.
Well, it's not abandoned, it either belongs to the company or to a guy who works here. I'll leave it
I was just saying if you could pick it up cheap, haha, not stealing. They do find abandonded proto pcbs everyone in a while. They found some SEGA prototypes in random warehouses in France I think.
Cheers man!

Yeah--ramonovski is on it--you need both a dry kill and a really short delay time for it to be effective I think? Most delays that come immediately to mind that get short enough delay times are more expensive though. Pitch Pirate is PT2399, I think, and maybe the Instant LoFi too, so maybe it is just that simple--I'd start checling specs of cheep delays with full wet mix/dry kill....
Erm--read up a little more--looks like you want 10ms delay time or less to get past perceptible lag....

I want an El Cap so bad. I had one before and thought "I don't use delay enough for this" but its a delay, reverb, Vibrato/chorus, and a really cool looper.

I tend to think the el Cap at full wet sounds kinda thin. The filtering of the delay seems to have a limited bandwidth, which is the whole point of it being a tape delay, but I don't think it's best suited for fake vibrato purposes for bass. Just my $0.02.

Rant: Tried an Instant Lo-Fi Junky the other day and it was probably one of the biggest pedal disappointments I've had. Almost bought one a while back. It compressed like hell even with the lo-fi/compression knob rolled all the way over to the lo-fi side. Colored the sound in all the wrong ways for me. The warble was not charming like on a Warped Vinyl, but rather stale and artificial. Just terrible. It made me sad.
I actually agree, UC. I tried it and was instantly dissapointed. I didn't like the way it sounded at all and I also thought it sounded kinda stale and artificial. Compared to the Mind Warp or a memory man, it sucks in my opinion.
