Going to buy a BigSky or a Space...
I know, I know, another thread on these two, but I wanted to hear ILF's wonderful opinions before I take the plunge.
I love the old Alesis units (I've owned a Midiverb, Nano, and Wedge). I really miss them for those Slowdive/MBV/Curve style sounds, particularly the ethereal modulation modes.
But now I need something to give me those kind of sounds in a more pedalboard friendly manner. My gut is telling me the eventide space will meet those needs, but I wanted to know if the BigSky can cop similar sounds?
Also: I own a Stereo Wet v1 (which I'm not getting rid of), and have also owned a Cathedral, Dimension, RV5, and Context.

I'm curious about this too but haven't tried either. But considering I see the Space for sub $400 used I'm leaning toward trying that one.

I've tried both in the past. The sounds available are very similar between the two imo. The big sky is somewhat easier to dial in while the space has or extreme parameters. Also the big sky is a bit easier to power. Really I feel that they are pretty interchangeable when you are talking about reverbs with that many features. If you can get a good deal on one used go for that.

Space is way more versatile than BigSky, the thing is DEEP as fuck.
BigSky sounds good, but most of the algorithms will start to sound the same after a few hours.
For those shoegaze sounds, I would get either, but for Reverb AND more, definitely the Space.

Only tried them for a little while, and while they weren't really for me I'd say the Space sounded/felt the most natural. The Strymon made me more aware of the fact that I was using a digital pedal...if that makes sense. Probably not. Sound is hard.

Thanks guyz,
Y'all just confirmed what I was thinking. I'd prob be happier with the space, even though I won't be able to power it with my PP2+

Don't know what the PP2+ specs are, but I power mine with a PP Digital by using the red cable.
Also, check out the Zoom MS70, no joke. It has some Eventide/Strymon emulations and they are really close to the real deal at a fraction of the price.

The space does so much stuff it's unbelievable, it is seriously infinite. Basically what ramonovski said. I found mine for like 270€, and I've never looked back

Also, the latest Eventide firmware update included the addition of opyional pre and post routing using the stereo ins as a separate pair, therefor you can have the space in 2 different places in your signal chain and have the algorithms change location accordingly. Pretty awesome for the shoegazing to have it say before dirt for big wall of noise sections and then have a tremverb at the end in cleaner sections or something.

I thought that was exclusive for the H9 Max. If not, that's super neatEv_O))) wrote:Also, the latest Eventide firmware update included the addition of opyional pre and post routing using the stereo ins as a separate pair, therefor you can have the space in 2 different places in your signal chain and have the algorithms change location accordingly. I'll pile on now that I see a consensus! Space!!! Although I've only played the BlueSky vs. Space so not the same match-up. Then I ended up making TremoloVerb a big part of a song I do and it seems like there's nothing else like it anywhere so now I'm stuck with my H9 Space forever!!!

Another cool thing is the Input and Output volume control for teh ambient swells.UglyCasanova wrote:I thought that was exclusive for the H9 Max. Got rid of my Volume Pedal and now I just use the Expression.
