One question: lots of pages back, someone asked about when in Mode 1 and with Dir 1 set to repeats at forward unison pitch, the buffer length seems to shorten gradually until it becomes a chorus effect and then perceptibly disappears until starting over at the given LEN B setting. Was this issue addressed in the update? (I've noticed that the Rainbow Machine seems to do this also)

No it was not addressed yet. The list of what was addressed on the firmware update post are the only things addressed in the last update.

I don't have a GB24 anymore unfortunately.
I love the CT5 but in comparison to the GB24 I sometimes feel (especially in the octave up range with higher feedback settings) that it is overpowering the direct signal, probably due to the higher fidelity, even higher fidelity would in that case likely make things go in that direction even more.

I think way way back i already talk about this or at least what i think you are talking about, unless you can give more detail it seems this is what you are experiencing. The issue is that 2 signals of the same amplitude but at different pitches will be perceived to have different volume. Typically notes on a guitar are in the hundreds of Hz to about 1-2 KHz. If you look up A weighting curve etc you will see that that shifting this range up say an octave puts them right into a more sensitive range of human hearing.

Im not saying somethigng cant be done, i just wouldn't say it's a direct result of increased fidelity. There will not be any dedicated filter knob or anything like that on this run, the physical layout/controls remain the same. I would suggest instead to just set the mix knob accordingly if you feel the wet is too much in some settings.

Yep, that's exactly the response you gave back then as well and I understand it makes sense, I tuned the mix control and it was more to my liking but still I didn't lose it completely.
I don't quite understand however that the GB24 seemed to have substantially less of this behavior, I think higher fidelity basically also means the highs will be reflected more efficiently, thus making the effect you describe more pronounced.

ya sure, i just mean there isn't any mechanism emphasizing the highs except for your ears.and again im not saying it can't be adjusted im jsut saying it does not directly come from the fact that the quality of the audio is improved, ie the quality could be improved and a filter applied, you would then have high fidelity and less highs.

filter options would be cool, but not necessary IMO. i just hope the improved sound quality means that there's less hissing on the wet signal.

That seems to have been an occasional issue on gen 1. That was my big complaint about my gen 1 version that seems to have gone from my gen 2.

IIRC that hissing sound was due to the Offset knob not being set 100% correctly, which was removed in the last firmware update. I know I had a little bit of a hiss on my V1 Ct5, but that's gone away after updating it.

I like it quite a bit but I originally made a few to have something simple to test out the case making process, and later i made some pcb panels to test a pick and place machine. it's sort of become the tester design since the board is relatively simple compared to other designs I did. I don't really push them but I have a few or can make them if anyone wants.

Yeah, awesome. I emailed you last week Scott re: the Positive. I have put in a pre-order for the CT5 and I will remind/ask you about the possibility of grabbing a Positive when I pay in full for the CT5. My attempt to get bundled shipping!!!

I have used a HotCake for years. And love it, but keeping an eye open for a possible replacement as mine is getting on. There are enough HotCakes around if I need to get my hands on a new or as new one.
