Glitchy music

Post by aholidayatthesea »

I love pedals that glitch and stutter and crackle and pop, and I noticed you guys do too.

What music do you all listen to that made you fall in love with CD skipping and twisting knobs? Or what music inspires you to create glitchy music?

Battles and Aphex Twin are super glitchy and have new albums out. Both are great places to start.

Yeah I love Battles and Don Cab.

I think Minus the Bear was actually my gateway band into math rock and glitchy pedals. But I don't feel like I see too many math bands using glitchy pedals. Stage Kids comes to mind, if anyone knows them.

Anyone listen to Ametsub? He's been a favorite of mine as far as ambient electronic music goes.

The two most important albums of glitchy electronic music are for me :

- Systemisch by Oval, which basically defined the genre (1996)
- Endless Summer by Christian Fennesz (2001)

You shall listen to these. Repeatedly. Amen.

Can you dudes who've just suggested bands add some rad album suggestions too?

I'm going to playlist this up in Spotify but I've a lot of those bands have some substantial back catalogues and I don't know where to begin. Have only listened to battles (thanks math rock thread) and really dig their stuff.

As I said above :

- Systemisch, by Oval (1996)
- Endless Summer, by Christian Fennesz (2001)

For what it's worth, I consider Endless Summer to be the electronic equivalent of My Bloody Valentine's Loveless.

Technically Tera Melos counts, Nick Reinhardt plays his pedals more than his guitar at times.

People all seem to love the album Drugs to the Dear Youth, but Patagonia Rats is my favorite.
