Looks like someone might be building themselves an electric tenor guitar...
:joy: :omg: :!!!: I need to bookmark the hell outta that site and get on that electric tenor train myself!

Not a cigar box git but definitely janky, fuzzy, lo-fi, and blues. Made from a two piece, sandwich laminated. solid oak board that used to be the threshold of a old garage man door. Picked up the National/Valco bridge/control plate in an odd lot auction on the interBay. It still had the original split 3+3 pickup coils but no magnet. Salvaged an old Indox magnet from a dead, partially unwound, Dearmond pickup, broke it half, and stuck a half next to each of the coils. Works great. Does the blues or can get doomier than the the doomiest 7-string guitar played by a guy in a mega-doomy rubber mask.

I think for the last Doo Rag tour it was just Bob Log by himself. I asked him where Thermos was and he said "he got stung by a bee". I think he got sick of people asking him that question and soon after he started playing under the name "Bob Log III". :idk:

Cigar Box guitar, Cigar Box Guitar Amp I just made (making more), and a Black Forest overdrive. Gear Test fun! Recording turned out really clear sound wise.

It makes me sad that this thread ain't more active.

Any recommendations for places to start building a lo-fi amp? Tempted to build one with an always-on fuzz face in it. Misbias that shit to fuck for extra filth :)

Cool! A cigar box thread! While I'm absolutely a noob at CBG thought I'd share my little guitardis built by a guy in Texas. Would LOVE to replace the pickup though as the current setup makes all kind of noises when I'm handling the instrument which sucks donkey balls.

Any suggestions for pickup replacement?

I normally play it through a cheap little battery powered Marshall stack (looks like a giant Marshall twin stack for GI Joe toys).

Did you check out the Delta Grooves site? They do a pickup specially made for 3 string CBGs.

I saw an interview w Grhol & Novacelik (sic) they were saying how Paul McCartney played with them--Paul had his two iconic guitars with him but he played a cigar box guitar. Anyway, cool thread.

Earlier today I was playing my cigar box amp built by Mr Grindonomicon. It's still badass.

my phone takes garbage pictures but here it is.

feel the jank

repurposed stereo speaker on a big ass box. has way more volume and bass response than you'd expect. he sells em for pretty cheap and has lots of different speaker and box combos depending on what you're looking for. would recommend.

Here's what I use for lofi blues and slide.

I've got a Gretsch Honeydipper metal-body resonator for *lower* lo fi blues. :snax:

My janky lofi blues comes from this thoroughly abused, well worn 60s Danelectro Convertible, which loves heavy strings tuned low. I've got 14-62(ish) strings on it tuned to Bb Standard right now. Into fuzz or a dirty tweed amp, it sounds like Satan's banjo.
