+1 for Sebadoh, and if you want a band that meets Sebadoh and MCR somewhere in the middle, Say Anything is fuzzed out and also pure pop at heart

A lot of female-fronted noise and garage bands, i.e. Giant Drag, Times New Viking, Ringo Deathstarr, and I don't know how much actual fuzz was in it, but the early-2000s anti-folk stuff, Regina Spektor, Nellie McKay, has the spirit...

I'll think of more...

Even though the two are completely unrelated in any way, shape or form, my brain instantly conjures up Morphine when someone mentions Sebadoh.
I have no idea why.
Maybe it was the era?
After morphine it goes to Dirty Three.
My brain sucks.
Sorry.
Carry on.

Lou Barlow and Morphine lived in Boston around the same time. Dirty Three just played there a lot.

You know, I knew what that clip was gonna be as soon as I saw your video response but I pressed play anyway.
That is sick.
I need help.
I'm watching Big Lebowski and to be honest, Kenny Rogers has some fuzzed out pop that doesn't suck.

Re: Fuzzed out pop
Actually, The Carpenters' "Goodbye To Love," 1972, is the first known recorded instance of the Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi being used. Who knew that The Carpenters were ILFers? It's actually a pretty awesome lead bit TBH...

The first known use of fuzz, period, was Grady Martin's "The Fuzz," 1961. It wasn't a pedal; the engineer pushed the levels in the studio. He was playing a Danelectro six-string bass. Imagine how this must have sounded to people who'd never heard a sound like that before. Fucking intense.
