NPD. Diamond Compressor. Settings? Placement in chain?

Long time lurker, first post.

Just received my Diamond Compressor. eBay score at a very fair price.

Played around with it a bit today. It's my first compressor so bare with me. Running it right after the tuner and before the drives with stacked delays and reverbs on the back end. Running out stereo into an SF Champ and a Pathfinder 15R. Playing shoe gaze and ambient loops.

Seams to fatten up the sound and the EQ feature is fantastic. Reacts a bit different with single coils and humbuckers.

Here's my question. What settings are people running with this pedal? How do I maximize the pedal for sustain either with settings or placement in the chain?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Yes, this. Most fuzz pedals are pretty sensitive to the source impedance of the pedal in front. The Diamond is going to blow a lot of current into the next device in line and that'll mess up the tone of most fuzzes.

I use the bass version on my board - tone is set to 900 Hz, just past one o'clock. Comp is set around noon but it depends on the bass I'm playing, then volume adjusted to taste. One thing to consider with either the guitar or bass version is that they really like lots of power supply headroom. I run my bass version at 24V, and the guitar version sounds best at 18V.

I don't run compression on my board often, but when I do it's usually:

- verb>comp>dirt
-everything>comp
Or
- comp>octave>everything

I don't have any experience with the Diamond, but if it will accept more than 9v, do it.

Hadn't considered the power supply voltage. Maybe I'll pick up an 18v.

Most fuzzes compress so much that you won't gain much by running the comp and the fuzz at the same time. I like to have a compressor after OD in most cases, but before OD sometimes works too. My go to wiring set up is usually Fuzz>OD>Comp>Other stuff.

In my experience running a Comp before an OD/fuzz makes it so I can play more complex chords without losing myself to a jumble of noise, which is good with my style.

Anyone else have this experience? This is a frequent qualm in my life. A lot of stuff I write involves passing tones that sound cool pretty dang clean and muddy/more bland with anything more than light OD. I've been thinking running a dual clean/dirty chain to get around this
