Just wanted to share a pretty great deal I got recently.
Alder Telecaster body, chambered with flame maple top. Standard Fender dimensions and measurements. Constructed in the U.S. by a custom shop in Denver, CO. New, undamaged.
They were selling the body at a loss for $70 OBO, because it was intended for a client who wanted a Telecaster with "Harley Davidson colors", but the client bailed well before the guitar was finished. There was also a bit of overspray with the paintjob. I figured I'd have the body sanded and refinished anyway, so I made a lowball offer of $50. They took it.
Pretty excited about using it for my Telecaster build. As far as I'm aware, a body built to these specifications would cost me at least $300-ish under normal circumstances.
I'm thinking of loading it with Bill Lawrence telecaster pickups and Bill's 5 way wiring scheme, dark blue/black burst, double bound, maple neck, Gotoh 6-saddle bridge. Something a bit like this, visually, minus the neck humbucker:
