No seriously there is nothing sterile about The Shins

They were chief among a handful of artists who revitalized the Sub Pop label in the early 2000s

They defined indie rock for quite a few people

Shins dude totally sucks. For the last album he fired the whole band because he wanted to take it a different direction, which ended up just being more boring than before. I actually really used to dig garden state era shins. I read some interview of him in like Rolling Stones or something stupid like that and everything he said was terrible.

I would even agree with the statement, "The Shins kind of suck, but they had two good songs back in the early 2000s, one of which was a major pop cultural moment for indie rock, via the film Garden State." And I'd be cool with leaving it at that.
