Yeah if it works for you I'm sure it'll be great. I want to say Deltz had a Maschine for a bit but idk if that was actually him (I've already confused UC and Eiwind today so I'm off to a bad start when it comes to telling ILFers apart today).

Also new collabo album coming down the pipe that has Ableton Drones all over it (and guitar, too). Hype.

I have a Maschine (mk1) and it's just okay. Honestly I think I'm not the best judge/user though, as I really just use it for sketching beats for more trad songwriting. For me, probably overkill.

I also have their Akoustik and Elektrik Piano libraries, which have now just been absorbed into Kotakt. I've always really really loved those libraries, but at the end of the day they're just sample libraries, of which there are obviously tons of good ones out there.

Reaktor though has always been the big, strong offering they have, or at least to me. It can go dauntingly deep. That said, it's also very welcoming on a beginner level via all of the factory and user created presets. Makes it a bit less scary to jump into than something like Max.

Plus, this is the first major version update in approaching 10 years, so... I'm psyched.

That's pretty rad -- usually I just create setups to make the base layers and then tweak them in Ableton. Wish I had a camera.

Apesoft had some mad apps out... iDensity and iPulseret

These were great recs. I've had the moog apps on my ipad forever but never realized there were glitchy/granular apps out there. I'm still figuring it all out, but I've had a ton of fun just loading songs into iDensity and blowing them up

I ran into the same problem for a while there, as the manual's like reading the Handbook for the Recently Deceased.

BUT. Some good intro tutorials on YT that helped me quite a bit. Would post but I'm at limited capacity, waiting at the DMV. Easy to find though.

Hey popvulture, yeah it's a lemur template that I made specifically for that performance (controlling audio input processing patches, an audio-reactive visual patch, and EQ/Levels so that I could control the mix from the stage). See the link below for a clip from the performance:

No, but I've had my eye on the Novation Remote Zero for a long and it does the same sort of thing. I've read lots of mixed experiences with those auto map ccontrollers though so I've been stuck on the fence.

Nektar makes one similar to that called the P1. The demos of these with Logic seem to work pretty well. I figure I'd just use it for tracking and then switch back to the mouse and qwerty when I'm mixing.

I have been working on finding a way to do it effectively and in a truly live manner and so far I have taken the route of breaking it down into a million clips in ableton and fucking around with crossfades and things like that to try and keep it somewhat improvisatory in nature. But yeah. It's something that feel weird coming form an instrumental performace background and I'm looking at working some live loops into it.
Gonna have to figure it out.
