Can't figure out how to embed the video, but...good grief. I know how I'll be spending my day. Three piece band out of Tokyo--drums, keys, keys. Incredible stuff.

Anyone know anything about them?

Thanks for fixing that for me. I've been incommunicado for a couple days, so I must have missed that vidja.

From an interview with the band:

"Performing live is a way to get our music to the audience directly, so it is something that is essential to us. Our music may sound similar to contemporary classical and have a refined sound to it, but when we perform live, our shows are just as aggressive as hardcore shows. In our shows we’ll dive into the audience and scream into the mic. But I think that our music will move more in the direction of ambient and atmospheric sounds, so our live shows may become more dreamy and deep."

Yeah listening now, this is pretty cool stuff. Reminds me more of Russian Circles than contemporary classical music, though.

on the topic of piano-driven atmospheric hardcore you might also like an Australian band called Tangled Thoughts of Leaving:

I get you there. Really strong sense of melody, though--even though it isn't "traditionally voiced." Which is cool, I think. Very much like a really busy guitar band, but transposed into new timbres. And some bonkers drumming. Dude said he had a stroke from headbanging too hard.

Besides digging this music really hard, I love that they're moving "hardcore" away from two-step and the shitty bands that popped up over the past twelve or fifteen years. Writing companion pieces to radiation poisoning, nuclear fallout, and impersonal concrete architecture of Tokyo (stuff they mention in their interviews) is pretty hardcore...

So that's not so different from Russian Circles. Doesn't feel "classical."
