-Used to have a DL4 for the longest time. It became overkill for me, meh build quality and reliability, too big. Has a handful of modes I really miss though.
-The Timebender I just got isn't doing it for me. Except for the looper and maybe the envelope mode, there's not really anything special going on with those different modes, they all sound the same to me, and the modulation is super lame and can't be tweaked in any way.
So budget whise it'd make sense for me to downgrade atm, I could really use a couple extra bucks right now.
So I might be in the market for a digital delay that's NOT in the price/size range of a strymon/eventide or whatever.
Other requirement:
-A bit more inspiring and adventurious than the Boss DD7 or Hardwire DL8.
-No need for osclillating space ship bleeps either, nor top notch analog emulation. I've got my analog delay stuff covered.
I figured the Echo Park might be the right bread and butter kinda digital delay that won't cost me too much, but still brings a little bit more to the table than the DL8 I used to have. Which in general sounded fucking amazing imo, sat great in a mix, whiped the floor with the DL4 as far as overal audio quality, bypass, and build quality goes imo. And the looper was pretty powerful too I guess. But the analog/lofi/tape modes all sounded the same, and the modulated setting doesn't at all sound quite as juicy as the Echo Park's sweep mode
So what I'm sorta asking: For what I'm after, is there anything out there that can compete with the echo park, dispite its so-so build quality and god aweful aesthetics? I'm particularly interested in hearing about delays peds that have a reverse mode like that of the DD-5, instead of the typical somewhat unmusical type that just repeats a single reversed phrase, with no dry signal coming through...
