No, it was just my derp. I meant this The Dear Hunter. I think what first struck me was how tight they are. Perhaps that's because of the prog.

Actually, I think it's because of the emo, too. Pop-punk, post-hardcore, that whole family of genres, it's very much about playing tightly as a band, often at a pretty decent clip, too.

Like if you listen to a band like The Wonder Years, it's all just power chords. But they're playing them louder, tighter, faster than lesser bands.

A lot of people will tell you Act II, but they're wrong. Its a full 75 minute progy adventure thats a bit cluttered with filler. Good stuff on their but not the best starting point.

Act III is their strongest overall, me thinks. Act I is awesome but a bit lacking in the production and not as fleshed out songs, but some of my favorites are on their (1878 is soooo good). If you want to hear their rawer side thats a good one.

The Color Spectrum... delve into if you like some of the Act material. Its an exercise in genres really. Im not familiar with Migrant but its fairly lame compared to their other stuff.
mostly agree. I'D also say Act II or Act III, but can't choose one over the other (or... One life or another :p ). Actually love ActII'S colourful production, but Act III is superior sound-wise (mix, master)

also regarding TDH's Migrant - it's different, more straightforward and accessible (not that any of their other stuff wasn'T accessible lol). It's less flashy, just a good rock record. I would say they don't have a bad release, just different flavours

Fuck this is the first thread I saw with emo in the title. But one of the best indie/emo LPs of the 90s is being remastered and hopefully re-released. I already own an original copy, but this is one of the best jams of all time.
