Silly Jaguar/Jazzmaster question

So, I've always wondered but never thought to ask anyone: What exactly do the extra switches on jags and jazzys do?

And for the sake of constructive conversation, how do you like to use them? Favorite Settings, etc?

EDIT: Pics added for reference

upper: turn on/off a extra set of vol/tone controls so you can actually have two V&T presets so to speak.
Jazz: three way pickup select.
Jag: on/off for both pickups and a switch that adds treble or something... :idk:

Then there's the alt layouts (factory, won't even get into the surreal custom wiring I've seen over the years that would require a roadmap).

Classic Player Jag HH (with actual trem, not the fixed bridge): Substitute master kill switch for circuit select on upper bout, fader knobs are for coil split/mix (can go beyond simple splitting and mix how much of the pickup is SC or bucking in the equation). Bottom chrome is the same as regular, knobs are master vol and tone.

I want to do something with the rhythm circuit of my jazzmaster, I never use it. Aen has put oscillators in someones jazz/jag before and that seems awesome, any other mod ideas?

Found this, too. Some of these look sweet.

CP Jag is basically the dialatap circuit. Love the thing even though I thought i'd be ripping out both the buckers and the wiring (got the guitar at well under market and had factored in upgrades which it hasn't ever needed).

I've thought about making a really small tremolo circuit or something and using the rhythm circuit controls for that since I never use it, but I haven't ever looked into whether it's even possible.

Now that would be neat!

Whenever I have messed around with Jazzmasters, I've always found the rhythm circuit useful :idk:

But then again, when I buy one, that might change

That is a pretty stupid question.

If you find one that feels/sounds good.

I love the rhythm circuit on on my jag. :idk:
I have no idea why you'd want to get rid of it.

I like it, but I find I can easily get the same/similar sounds by rolling back the volume/tone and think it might be kinda cool to have some built in effects. I'm happy enough with it though, good for having a lower output/duller sound available with the flick of a switch.
