Abominable Electronics - Demon Lung
I finally got it! I waited for about two months to get this and it was everything I hoped it would be, a filthy fuzz. There wasn’t a lot of good sound clips on the Internet when I first heard about this pedal so I had to make a video. I think it might just replace my Wampler Triple Wreck, I’m not sure yet. Hope you enjoy the video (it’s a little different than my last few). Anyone else have one? Thoughts?

Just got mine in the new smaller enclosure, which I really like. This thing rips and I love it. For the negatives, I don't really hear much difference in the clipping circuits and I don't like how the Blend is in parallel so you end up having to adjust two knobs to get it to sound like you want. And if you have the Fuzz all the way up, you can barely hear the Blend, even if it's all the way up. ANYWAYS, that being said, this is the first dirt pedal I've plugged in and been like OH SHIT THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED in such a long time. It sounds so good on Fuzz II with a down tuned guitar and double tracked. It also sounds fantastic on bass. And into an amp, man, it can just make it sound fucking broken and it's amazing.

I mean I've got an FZ-2. Lol. From the sound of the video yeah the clipping diode selector doesn't seem to make much difference. Having the Fuzz 1/2 selection on a footswitch is nice though.
(Not that I ever use fuzz 1 on my FZ-2. Like at all)

I've pretty much settled on Fuzz II. Fuzz I just sounds too muddy to me... which is saying something because this pedal is mud.
I know the Demon Lung doesn't have it, but what's with the boost mode? Abominable guy said it sucks, but I was reading around and it looks like some people actually put it to good use.

If I remember right, Nick from Dunwich based a one knobber off just the boost section of a hyper fuzz...

Re: Abominable Electronics - Demon Lung
I mean it's just a fairly transparent boost with a two band EQ. Basically the FZ-2 has a make-up gain circuit after the fuzz to make it louder and unless I'm mistaken, gain boost mode bypasses the fuzz circuit and just uses the post-gain make-up stage. It's not bad but it's also not anything you probably don't already own.yeatsvisitslincoln wrote:I've pretty much settled on Fuzz II. Correct, the transistor boost 1 knob is basically that boost circuit but I swapped in mosfets for the jfets and used stacked Ge PNPs instead of the single Si PNP. I didnt include the EQ or anything. Its just the raw output of the boost circuit (off the collector of the PNP).systemofameow wrote:If I remember right, Nick from Dunwich based a one knobber off just the boost section of a hyper fuzz...

Boost on the fz2 rules, it was the only mode I like when I had one. The other modes are way too coloured to be useable IMO, only if you are like recoding overdubs and don't have to shut it off

I loved the fuzz on it for anything heavy, but the boost is definitely amazing, I’m a little bummed he didn’t leave it in.qersty wrote:Boost on the fz2 rules, it was the only mode I like when I had one. Re: Abominable Electronics - Demon Lung
That demo was GREAT. Thanks for sharing. I am planning my next fuzz purchase to be either a HM-2 clone or a Hyper Fuzz clone and that just kind of put me over to wanting a Demon Lung. I have an HM-2 and kind of know the territory but this is a new one for me, and given I can’t test before I buy that was a great primer. I’d be using it for bass exclusively and it looks right up my alley.
