MAX MSP ?

it probably totally amazing but also out of my budget..
i really liked the 30 day trial but i never got in deep enough to really get sold on it.
anyone ever use this?

I used Max from about 1993-2000 (I'm a bit old). It was great for small stuff, but the graphical environment didn't work well for large, complicated patches (at least back then). Max for Live has made me curious again.

great program.
the graphical environment is still rudimentary, but there's never been any drawbacks in my experience.

if you're into engineering ideas and capable of paying attention to the details, then it's the best tool available.
it's the autocad of the audio world.

two weeks ago i helped my drummer write a patch so he could use self built contact triggers as audio signals into his 8 channel soundcard to run a midi drum kit in Logic.
sure there already exist programs that do this, but they cost money and now he's got an electronic drum kit that cost him 20$ in parts.



there's a windows crack floating around the internet if you're into that sort of thing

i fucking love max/msp. i took a great class on it in college... haven't used it in years, though. :(

Never gotten my hands on it... I plan on changing that eventually, however.
