What's that stand for, you ask?

NEW MODDED PEDALS (TWO OF 'EM!) DAY!!!!!

This is the worst part about working at home, though - I heard the postman deliver the package, and then realized that I'm behind deadline on my work! So I have these two beautiful little boxes of destruction in front of me AND I HAVE TO RESIST USING THEM UNTIL MY WORK IS DONE!!! Curse you, flexible workplace!

To share my pain, I leave you this tantalizing quote from Stanimal regarding his explorations into these pedals, and some pix:

"all of devi's circuits are like video games where you just need to figure out the puzzle and open the door to the next level."

ARE YOU READY FOR THE NEXT LEVEL?!?!?

You mean that VFM / SM with noise and chaos switches? Yes, it should. It scares me as well.

Yeah, I just had to gloat about it. That new knob is indeed a starve. I'll give a better description of both pedals (and hopefully clips!) once I've had a chance to play around with them.

O.k. - clips won't happen today, because I've played around with these a bit, and there's just too much to explore. But this much is eminently clear:

1) Devi and Stanimal are both brilliant individuals deserving much praise & cash from everyone.
2) The VFM is my single favorite Devi circuit.
3) This modded Hype has so many toanz hiding in it, it's not even funny. I'm not sure how to get my "old" hype sound anymore, but all of the other sounds there are so good, I'm not upset in the least.
4) The 33 and DB circuits like being starved much more than the VF or SM.
5) I can get some totally ridonkulous tunable stable oscillation drones by starving the VF with the chaos & noise switches engaged.
6) Putting both of the 3-way switches on the modded hype into the center boost position, and then starving it creates some awesomely raunchy heavy OD/protofuzz.
7) Starving the 33>boost setting on the Hype is friggin' awesome.
8) Stan has gone and made my Hype even louder, if that's possible.
9) I want to spend a long weekend hidden away with these pedals.

Yeah. It's got some pretty effin' heavy toanz going on now, for sure.

So how exactly does the starve knob affect the SM/VFM circuits? Is it worth getting the starve knob? I guess I'm really trying to ask, how "usable" is it?

I'll have to play around with it more to really let you know, but it doesn't seem to do much, certainly not as much as the starve does to the DB & 33 circuits. When I have my new noise & chaos switches engaged in the VF mode, it does oscillate a tunable drone, but it turns out that I can't play through it - in that setting, it just becomes a drone generator (which is still pretty cool). I may have some time to play around with it tomorrow, so I'll see if I can come up with more concrete / usable findings then.
