How To: Crim Proof Your Goods

so i was reading on vice mag about a party for there friends to fundraise for there friends who happened to be musos who just got robbed
they cleaned up all there guitars,pedals,amps
and it got me thinking on how (knock on wood) would one go about making it harder for someone to pawn your gear if it did get stolen or ways of marking your stuff serial number logging/ secret knife markings so on so forth
anyone got any ideas
this goes for touring aswell like if your gear is in the van make the bass player sleep in the van with a fork
or the back door against a wall so you cant open it

The Police here mark things with U.V. Pens... Pawn shops wont even take the gear and check for it and the burglar can't see it, hence, can't do anything about it... Great way to catch people out.

Even without UV, those stains get easier to see the more I put on there.
