Small Clone depth pot

Is it as easy as wiring a pot as a variable resistor in place of the 2-position switch? Or am I missing something huge?

I bought a cloned Small Clone from a guy here in NY, and he does the switch -> pot mod on his and it is really nice to have. Definitely worth the effort in my opinion.
