Ok a couple of rants have popped up about pedal flipping and over inflated prices being asked for some gear.
So let’s start a thread on this topic.
Rant away to your hearts content.

Exhibit A: This pedal sold so poorly while in production that they were being blown out of guitar center for less than half of retail at the end. Now, just because it's been used a couple famous people:

Dood, you have no idea how many times I've raged and/or tarded out about this shit on Noiseguide...
too many times.
Two words: SITAR. SWAMI.
It's such bullshit that it only became desirable after it was discontinued. Everyone hated it before that.
Not even going to discuss the fucking Buzz Box or Bitrman...

dod gonkulator
i have one, i got it for peanuts when i worked in a guitar shop and had a minor Devo obsession
the guy from incubus uses it suddenly ten times the price.
Its still a average untunable ring mod, its fun dont get me wrong, but for triple figures id rather get a moogerfooger

Dod Buzzbox... Sure I want one you want one but at the price they are

I should have gotten one or ten back in the day I say... The only reason way I never did was I got to demo one against a Blue box into a RAT which is what the Buzzbox is suppose to be and the Bluebox > RAT combo OWNED the Buzzbox in every way other then it being in a all-in-one pedal.
I always have this hope... That maybe if the demand of certain pedals go up the builders will consider making them again, sadly this doesn't happen very often.

Hmmm. Not sure that I get the purpose of the rant thread - unless . your first principles are not about "good sound". I hope this thread is not an affirmation of that guy who in the FUZZ movie says, "the only thing that matters is resale..."?
If these pedals sucked before, why would a famous person's use of said pedals make them sound better? Is it not far more advisable to take some good time, do some good research, determine what for YOU are the GOOD sounding pedals, buy them, and be done with it?
Incubus does not have such magical powers so as to make the Gonkulator sound good. That's like saying Ron Jeremy's penis has magical powers that makes skanky vaginas feel better.
Why would I even care about buying a crappy Gonkulator when I can get a Copilot Android?
As far as I am concerned, famous suck still equals suck. It just makes the suck LARGER; it doesn't magically turn the "suck" into "unsuck".
However, this discussion does prod me to create a new thread in the Gear section and share an idea I've had for a long long time. Look up the "Horrible Pedal" thread I'm about to make under Gear.

Totally. I had a bunch of chances to grab a Sitar Swami back then, but I never did because of the horrible reviews!

No one was saying that at all. We're bitching about when famous people use a product it suddenly increases its value making it unaffordable to the average player.

Oh and for me its more about guitars. I'm thankful everyday that Kurt didn't play duo sonic, otherwise I probably wouldn't have been able to afford mine.

Who was that guy? Every time he talked, I cringed a little. Like, shit... you and everyone like you is missing the point. >.<

The thread was in response to a pretty intense rant someone else made about people buying low and selling high or something to that effect.
This thread has sorta diverted into a different direction.
