I like that. Might actually be the most british-sounding thing Damon Albarn's done in years.

Here's to hoping the reformation of Blur is something more permanent.

Can't lie, I love me some Blur. I've always thought they could/should be bigger than they are, though that seems like their own choice.

yes, think Blur didn't want to be Blur when the comparisons with Oasis et al started to be too much perhaps.... maybe now that Oasis has imploded we can get more Blur and WAY less new Gorillaz....

I think you're right about them not wanting to be considered a less-popular-than-Oasis brit-pop band. I remember reading a quote from Damon (around the time of Think Tank) where he said he could write huge pop hits all day / easily make an album of singles...but that he didn't want to. Normally, I'd call bullshit on an artist that said that, but I think he was probably telling the truth. :)

Haha...I don't mind Gorillaz, but I've never really gotten into them (I usually like my rock/pop/singing and hip hop to be kept separate).

Speaking of Oasis, I went to see them in the early 2000s with a couple of friends (none of us were fans). Travis opened for them...this was probably 3-6 months before they semi-blew-up here. Travis absolutely killed, put on a show and played wayyy heavier than they do on record. Oasis was incredibly boring, just stood there and played...AND they heckled the crowd to top it off!
