those devi kits

got me thinking. i, being stupidly overambitious, want to take two of em and try to do my own twin thang. and, being inspired by our fellow forumites, wanted to see if i could make it a sort of four-in-one kinda thing.

so here are a handful of questions.

will both pcb's fit in a 1590 sized enclosure? if not, what sized enclosure should i use?

how exactly do i get one to feed into the other, and is there any way i could make them reversible with a switch?

can i wire an spst switch to go from sm to gz or tp to us?

and finally, if i can't get them to be reversible, what order should i put them in?

so basically, what i hope to be able to do (with lots of help from you guys  ) is have a gz/sm on one side and a tp/us on the other, with another switch that lets me switch the order between the two sides. is this a bad idea?

You could definitely make them reversible. This "effect order switcher" is what you're looking for, but instead of wiring to the send and return jacks, you'd be wiring to the input and output of each board:

I don't think you should have any trouble fitting the pcbs into that enclosure. As far as the tp/us and sm/gz switch thing goes, I think you should be able to do it, but not with an spst. For the sm/gz, I believe that the difference is is just one transistor, but with the tp/us, for example, you need to remove one cap, one resistor, and also switch the values of one cap and one resistor, so, maybe with a 4pdt switch? Not sure, that kind of stuff confuses me, so maybe there is an easier way. I mean, if you had one pcb just for US and another for TP, then an spdt would be fine, but there should be a better way to do it with just one pcb. :idk:

thanks!

i took another look at the US/TP/aenima/ND and it looks like the US is the most difficult to do this with, but the US is the one that i really wanted...

Also, not to take business away from devi or anything, but the schematics for all of these pedals have been released, so if you know how to read schematics or have interest in learning, you might have more options (and save some money) if you just spend a little more time to round up the parts and make your own personalized layout on perf or veroboard.

I'm putting my Death's Tar in that enclosure and that's a DB and TP. It'll be tight and they'll be electrical taped to hell, but it'll work out. I have a thread instructing how to use a 4pdt for the purpose of switching order in the Dwarfcraft forums. Look for Devi Never.

i would love to, and eventually i just want to learn more about putting these things together. but right now i feel like this is already ambitious enough for someone who hasn't even drawn a schematic since high school physics!

more questions! would it be possible to use a three way switch to go from sm to gz to vfm? it seems like only one component varies here. how would i go about doing this?

if it is possible, and i can't find a way to go from tp/us, i might do a sm/gz/vfm > sm/gz/vfm instead.

you could do it with two different switches...not sure if it could be done with one. It would be pretty sweet (and simpler) if you just did sm/gz>sm/vfm. Really, though, I would strongly encourage you to get some TP and/or US action in there. Those are my two all-time favorite Devi pedals, and imo I like them both way better than either sm or vfm. :idk:

I <3 the US, but i can't seem to think of a way to swap out all the components that go from TP to US...

I may have misunderstood, but you could build both and have a switch to swap the entire board maybe?

yeah, if you bought an extra pcb, there would be no problem switching from US to TP, I was just under the impression that deadbeatriot wanted to only buy two pcbs and wanted at least one of them to be the sm circuit.

that would be ideal, but if i could squish three into one enclosure, who knows?
