Help Pick My Next Pedal!

So, the inevitable, I must spend money on a new pedal. Got the grounds pretty covered most areas but fuzz/overdrive. There are so many out there (though I'm likely to get one from someone here), I could use some help making the final decision. I play bass mostly, but guitar as well. My "rig" is def set-up for use with both.
First and foremost, I want a good, solid fuzz. Crazy whacked out noises/controls/etc are not needed, but I certainly do like them

.
The more versatile the better, as far as covering many fuzz tones + overdrive. (Multi fuzz in one/etc)
Targeted towards bass, yet still great with guitar (not NEEDed, but would be A+)
CHORDS! Being able to play chords without making muck is essential (this is more for guitar)
I know ^that's^ kind of specific, but then again, I know there are tons of fuzzes that match, at least close to, my description. Who better to ask than the folks at ILF?
Here's what I'm looking at right now...Blackouts' Musket & Fix'd, FuzzHuggers' Great Wall & AB Synth, Devi Rocket (someone actually just posted one)...Oh yea, $200 is my limit unfortunately, I really shouldn't spend that even

If I could I'd just go for the Twosome

the Great Wall is pretty badass, imo.
...but the best thing to do is watch a crapload of pedal demos - including every vid that PumpkinPieces has done - and then go hit a store and play every pedal that you can. From there, you'll have a better idea of exactly what you like and dislike and will have narrowed the field a significant amount.

Done that until my head hurt, do every day, haha, as many of us I'm sure. The music stores in the area have crap for pedals. Anything I get will likely have to be shipped or c-listed. Unfortunately, I don't have the funds to buy several at once, then return/resale the ones I don't need. What would likely happen anyway, would be me keeping them all!

Welcome to the world of ILF, my man. This is what happens to us all.
If this troubles you, all I can suggest is that you head for the hills before you get in too deep.

These are all good suggestions, but if you're looking for something that can go OD to fuzz and can handle chords, you might want to look into the Fuzzhugger Algal Bloom - that's pretty much EXACTLY how everyone who has one describes it. And if you're worried about how it would work on bass, Tom is usually very cool about tweaking a pedal for specific uses. All told, it should fall within your price range very nicely.

Ab-Synth/Great Wall. Probably Ab-Synth. It does wacky and polite.
Do it.

I have a similar kind of thing goin' on, one rig for both bass and guitar. The most versatile fuzz there is is the Wolf Computer, thick and wooly, overdrivey, and glitched out madness in one box of fuzz love. It plays well with both bass and guitar.
The Algal Bloom is pretty versatile, has some fantastic fuzz tones, but I thought the overdrive settings were too muffled. The Great Wall looks really good, though. And those Blackout Effector's fuzzes sound wonderful (from what I've heard on the videos).
elbandito's suggestion of watching as many videos as possible is the best suggestion yet.

Ha, well I've spent my fair share, and ready to spend more.
The Bloom, Great Wall, etc are def on the top of my list. Someone recently put up an older Bloom for $90, might be cool if I could snag that then send it to Tom to tweak it a bit possibly. I'll have to look more into the Wolf Comp.
Anyone feel need one job for livin', one job for gear?

+1
Just got a Bloom.
Goes from OD to fuzz wall.
Handles complex chords very very well.
Sounds great on bass too.

Hm, I'm likin' that Great Wall... Actually, I like it more than the Groundswell (which I was thinking of getting). Since I'm a broke bastard, I'll probably get the 2-knob version. My understanding is that it just lacks a volt knob? right?

"The FuzzHugger Algal Bloom is an extremely natural, organic fuzz." I've gotta use that!
