1967 YGM-2 (no reverb) and a 1972 YGM-3

Great amps, both stock except for the rubbish speakers (I put some old British Celestions in them both: a greenback and a C90). But, you say you can't solder? You know you can (literally) kill yourself messing about inside a tube amp if you don't know what you're doing right? I'd be careful...
I took my YGM2 to a tech to fit a proper 3-prong power cord, and while he was in there he messed with the bright cap without being asked to and totally fucked up the sound -- made it all muddy and sludgy. So I took it to my regular guy and he returned it to stock. Sounds great to me.

What format is your serial #? We can date it from that.

irst digit: Last digit of year of production (1 ^= 1971, 3 ^= 1973)
Second and third digit: Month of production (01 ^= Jan., 11^=Nov.)

My YGM2 is the Fender circuit, the YGM2 is the Bandaxall (I think, I'll have to check now...)
Before messing with anything in there, I'd drop in a new speaker. Easiest, cheapest (safest!) mod possible and it makes a huge difference. I've had my eye on a redfang, but the Celestions came my way so in they went. I Might still try one down the road. I hear a lot of people talking about Vintage 30s in these too. I like the greenback in the YGM3, jury's still out on the C90, but it sounds better than the stock Marsland.

I like the clean sound out of them both, although the YGM3 can be a bit toppy. But my main guitar is a 335 with PAF type HBs, so it's not a problem. With a tele I imagine it's be a bit ice-picky. YGM2 is a bit darker sounding, so they complement each other well -- I run em in stereo, which is a nice sound.

They take dirt (FUZZ!!) pedals well, but I don't really like the natural overdrive from either of them when cranked...kinda buzzy.

They're great amps, especially for the money. Hand wired, turret board, made in Canada. What's not to like?

Just don't fry yourself -- that's always a sure way to ruin your week...

Got my daughter an YBM-2 Bassmate a couple of Christmases ago.
Fantastic sounding amp stock, but it is tuned a bit different than the YGM and has a 15.

Fun amps to play with.

Some what informative video, but I have issues with people who clip things out instead of de-soldering.
It is lazy, and if they do it with filter caps etc and solder the new components to the old leads it looks like and is a hack job. Do it right or stay the fuck out.
