NEW SHIT DAY!!!!!
My fingers are almost bleeding after playing through my new toys all day, so I am typing this with my toes.
I picked the Vibro Champ off craigslist: it's a 72 or 73 with a weber alnico speaker and still has the original toobz (which need to be replaced). The cleans on it are lovely, especially with a touch of trem. The trem is super musical only just about every setting, so I plan on getting a footswitch for it, as unfortunately he didn't have it. I was only able to crank it briefly, and it sounds like one of the tubes was rattling, but that's easily fixed.
I finally got my hands on the White Light OD from Earthquaker Devices, and I am glad I did! This thing is super versatile. It has a nice gain range from boosty to crunchy, but the weight knob and compression switch make it special. The weight knob is way more than a tone control. As it moves counter clockwise, it makes everything sound thicker, not just bassier. Fully cranked, it makes my strat sound like it has humbuckers, and all the way left makes it nice and jangly with really clear chords. The compression switch gives you two different options, and I think I'll be using more uncompressed position more, but it's nice to have a compressed drive available. I understand now what they mean by a "vintage" voiced OD; when I first turn it on I have to play some AC/DC riffs and then move on
The only downside to this is that it means my M9 is now muuuuuch further away. But that's okay because this new gear makes me wanna
