I totally just smoked the hell out of this Maestro Fuzz tone i was building... i gave it 9v instead of 1.5v...
good thing i was using cheap transistors in place of the real ones (if i ever find them!)
so i figure the smoking means that i completed the circuit properly (atleast)... or did i just fuck something up.
thoughts?
i have no clue, i'm a n00b at this..

I fried a germanium transistor last week. You don't know stink until you smoke one of those babies.

I haven't fried a Germanium yet but Electro Caps, man do they smell nasty...
As for you Wiz... could be many things... might have had parts in the wrong way round most likely, probably a electolytic cap in backwards, it shouldn't have set on fire by getting too higher voltage... so i'll assume it wasn't set up quite right.
If you want I can draw you a breadboard layout tommorow if you remind me? Also which Maestro Fuzz Schematic is this from? There's loads under the same name.
Also I might be able to help you find the real transistors... wont be cheap though, i'd suggest using a more available equivalent.

Hey that's awesome.
i don't think it was a backwards cap, i got that down pretty well.
what i was doing was putting the 3 leads of the output jack to there rightful places,
ground to ground, lead from jack to center transistor pole, and it smoked when i plugged the third wire into the negative side of the breadboard.. couldda been that.
i dunno. I used one that had maestro fz-1 and fz-1a on the same schematic.
but yeah, i want one real bad.

You don't need to plug the 3rd switched lug of the Stereo Jack into the breadboard, the only reason you use that 3rd lug is so that when you pull the input jack out the pedal, the battery doesn't get used so just put the negative of the battery to the negative of the breadboard for the moment.
Links me to the schematic and i'll do you a breadboard layout for it.. if I can find a breadboard template.

You has emailz back.
And for anyone else that might want to use it, or can spot any mistakes, here's the layout.
