Hello, I'm quite interested in the fuzz pedal you call the "Fender Blender". However, the volume drop is irritating. I already have a Blue Box that has a volume drop, but at least that's even more of an "effect", whereas if anything I'd want the Blender to boost my volume for lead parts.

I'm considering just getting one and modding it(and doing the same to my blue box) but I am not very skilled in that area. I'm also looking at other fuzzes which produce a similar scrambly sound at high settings, like the Boss FZ-2. I've heard the Never Drive was a bit like that, but it sounded a bit thinner and more focused to me, more of a sitar type of effect, and I kind of want something with more knobs(that's also $125 or under, so no vintage FBs). A bit of versatility would be nice as I don't always have room to take all my pedals with me.

Does the Boss FZ-2 get kind of Octavey? I like how it sounds on Orgy stuff. I think I'm maybe looking for the scrambling effect more than the octave - a lot of scrambler type pedals I've tried have a real "compressed" kind of feel to my ears, I'm not sure how to describe it.

I just bought a reissue Fender Blender off of Amazon for $132. I don't notice a volume drop with mine. Might be something to look into.

Here - Check out Made By Mike Pedals. He can make the Blender with the 1976 specs he has. It is cheaper and sounds A LOT better than the re-issue.

Here is a link to his site:

Pretty sweet pedal. I'd love to get one myself but have other needs right now besides this nasty dirt machine.

I don't see the Fender Blender on his site. Did he stop making that model? I would love to check out his Fuzz Face and Russian Green Muff clones!

Shame Mike doesn't seem to make it anymore! I remember running across his site before.

Unfortunately Mike doesn't list all of his clones that he has done for people through out time on the site. If you go to youtube and search for shortscalegeardemos or mikelivesly you should be able to get either of those channels and check out his clones. He does quite a few (mi audio crunch box, germanium fuzz, green muff, fuzzface, trystie OD, etc. , etc.)

Nice. His demos sound really good. The prices aren't outrageous either.

His Fender Blender sounds really good. If I could though I'd have one built into an EHX XO sized casing.

Yeah, that'd be sweet! The original and the re-issue take up a lot of real estate on the pedal board!

I'd email him to see if he'd make one for you. Worth a shot. If you have the cash I don't see why he wouldn;t.

Yea, shoot him an email. I'm sure he'd work with you. Putting in that chasis might be less even, who knows.
