PRS SE Series? Cheap, Good Necks, Humbuckers and i've found a good few of them stay in tune with good trems.

I too would like to get some answers for this. What's the word on those Ibanez Artcores with the Bigsbys?

You could go with one of these knocks offs:

And get take it to a luthier and get a bigsby installed and still be pretty set. I know BG pups offers a HC discount, and it's extremely fair in terms of price to quality ratio.

Look for an old 80s Ibanez Roadstar II. Sounds just what you're looking for. They're considered vintage now too
You used to be able to get those for $100 and they're pretty decent guitars.

What's with the doohickey behind the nut? And the bridge/tailpiece combo is wacky.

If I found one of those for <$200 I'd have it, but as of now that has not happened.

Ibanez Talman I believe.

Yep, it's an Ibanez Talman, model TC420 from around '96. I own a TC630... it's identical to the 420, except that it's got three lipstick pups. I found mine in a guitar store one day sitting around looking unloved. I picked it up to try out a compressor but in the end, I left with this guitar and nothing else. It's been my go-to recording guitar ever since. Paid $210 + pocket change, literally. It was $200 + taxes and all I had was pocket change. They gave it to me because I practically begged them and because they just wanted to move it.

Try one, the next time you come across one. You will enjoy it.

BTW I've only had one guitar with a bigsby and it was a nightmare--the guitar, not the bigsby, but its made me a little weary of bigsbys too. I guess I should get over that? I always thought they looked sexy as hell but it seems like they can cause problems too.

Bigsbys are touchy... I have one on my Tele Esquire and it works well but I tried one on a Gibson and it wouldn't stay in tune. If you plan to use the whammy barr a lot, I would suggest getting a strat style trem (the Talman comes with one), instead of the Bigsby,

i have a 71 gibson sg delux with a bigsby and it blows... the bigsby, not the sg... i can get it to stay in tune no prob, but when i use the bigsby twice forget it...

there could be good bigsbys out there, but if they are the wrap around style where you have to slide the hole in the ball of the string over a post they are a pain to re-string...

+1 to this. I've got the B5 model on my esquire and if I break a string on stage, that's it for the guitar, since it takes like 10 friggin minutes to re-string the beast.
