The shaft broke off of my gain pot on my Boss ODB-3. Anyone know where I can order a replacement pot in the correct size and value?

If you remove the pot it should have its value written on it followed/preceeded by a letter indicating its taper... other than that should be no problem replacing it aslong as you can handle a soldering iron... i'd guess it was just your standard 16mm Solid Shaft Pot, stick a picture up and someone should be able to tell you where to get a replacement.

I'm pretty sure that boss uses the mini alpha pots, or something like them. Small Bear Electronics should have them.
**also, I just remembered the pot is probably soldered to a pcb, but don't let this discourage you...

Ok, so I cracked the pedal open. It's a green box looking pot made by Alps Japan, has 6 pins on the bottom, and the top reads:
25 4A
7 CV
I'm a n00b. Anyone know a specific website where I can get the part, as well as what the actual part is?

I believe Mouser carries Alps pots. I'll have a look when I get home later today and see if I can find the same pot. I don't know about the knurling, though.

six pins are located directly underneath the opposite side of the pot that has writing on it.

Quick idea... before I start looking for a replacement, you could try e-mailing BOSS to see if they can send you a replacement part, from my experience with Marshall, Fender etc. they'll usually send you a replacement part free of charge, or atleast point you in the right direction, give it a go if you haven't already

Roland has outstanding customer service. If you call the number on their website you can tell them the pedal and which control it is and they will look up the exact pot you need. I broke one of the shafts on my BF-2 and had no problem at all getting a replacement. think it was about $12 shipped, had to wait for it to be ordered from the factory though

. Took a couple of weeks. I got lucky on my BF-2 cuz the pots weren't pcb mounted. Probably because it's such an ancient design
