Lovetone Clones

My new obsession is researching lovetone clones, more specifically (but not limited to) the ring stinger.

I've been approached by a dude on hcfx named "sombrero" (I believe he frequents talkbass as "conical johnson").
It seems like he knows his stuff and obviously I have a ton of questions before I go any further.

Just wondering if anyone had any experience with lovetone clones or this guy in particular.
...and for those who know what's up, is there anything special I should look out for/make sure is included in said clone?
I won't pretend like I understand what the hell is going on inside that pedal.

A few clips here http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=508883&page=3.
Check the lovetone website if you want to hear the real deal.

Oh man, I would love to get a clone of the Wobulator, ? Flanger, and Doppelganger. I think there are some schems of them floating about out there, but I can't seem to find them.

The guy who contacted me will also do the wobulator and doppelganger.

He's done a ? but apparently it would be insanely expensive if anyone ever wanted him to do another
I think there is a reason nobody sells a ? clone.

If it really is conical johnson from Talkbass, that dude knows his shit, he's legit. The Ring Stinger is pretty much the holy grail for ring mods, so as many of the original's options that he can cram in there, the better. I tend to use ring mods in pretty standard modes, so might not be the best guy to ask. I usually just like to get a drone going and leave it there, playing over it. I don't tend to use LFOs on the carrier and such. Although having exp/cv control of the carrier makes it SO much easier.

Hello there,
Stumbled upon this while looking for a Ring Stinger Clone. Did you ever get one maid? If so, maybe you can point me in the right direction. I gotta have one.

I might have the schem for one or two of these. I'll look for them when I get home.

I will second the vouching for Conical Johnson, the guy knows what is up.

I never went through with it, though the ring stinger is still a  pedal for me.

i only have experience with the meatball but judging from the clips the ring stinger has always been by far the least interesting/usable of all the big lovetone pedals :idk: i would love to hear the supposedly weird and wonderful swirling textures of the wobulator but nobody wants to make clips of that pedal :( :( :(
