DEATH BY AUDIO?

I haven't seen much about DBA on the board yet - though I've only been looking around for a few days, admittedly.

I own a couple of their pedals, the Fuzz War and the Robot - both of which are fuzz-spewing monstrosities (and that's definitely a compliment).

I recently had the chance to meet DBA's Matt Conboy who is an extremely nice fellow and apparently the business/new design guy (working with founder Oliver Ackermann).

Has any thought been given to a DBA forum? If a moderator is needed I would volunteer.

I like their looks, but they seem hideously overpriced. :idk:

$$$
I have no problem shelling out big cash on pedals...I own a slew of skreddy's, manglers, and I just drop half a G on filter pedal.
But DBA stuff always struck me as short changing the consumer for what you got in the box.

didn't they try to claim to have invented the feedback loop once?

i think they invented it twice!

i'll be getting a fuzz war from fuzzhugger soon
i like the BIG boxes. lots of pedal builders over price their products. helps them stay in business. design new pedals.

ps. hey tom! go to the post office for me today! please!
edit: shit.. new thread coming! tom is the greatest! (he's already been to the postmans place)

I've noticed quite a bit of hostility around here toward DBA. Not sure why, exactly. :idk:

I've got an Interstellar Overdriver Supreme and it is a great overdrive/fuzz. Lots of variations on the basic IO sound in that one. :excellent:

I've never played anything else. They aren't stocked in any stores around me. I ordered the IOS from Analogue Haven.

I like their stuff, but they are mostly fuzzes and I have that covered. That ring mod was good...Robot is tight, although I prefer the original.

They're expesive and poorly built. Love the looks and sounds. Just bad attitudes towards the customer

Well, i don't much about other DBA stuff, but my SB seems solid enough.

Boogie-woogie.

There was some beef awhile back about DBA claiming they were the inventors of the feedback loop and claimed anyone who creates a feedback loop is stealing their idea. Which to me is pretty stuck up and ridiculous.

With that said their graphics/enclosures are pretty fucking sweet. The sounds they create don't always resonate with me, and the prices are way too high for what you get in my opinion. but if someone find their sound is locked in oen of those pedals I can't blame them for buying it.

But anywho the underlying reason they aren't too hot over here is the feedback loop claim and the obnoxious prices. however i don't think any of us have a problem with the sweet sounds they produce. :thumb:

whoever "invented" the feedback looper as an effect is probably just some engineer messing around with send/returns decades ago :idk:

Did he tell you about future releases?
Since APTBS started touring 90% of the year, there's nothing much going at DBA.

My experince with them nullifies this statement.

Matt kept in touch with me while going through and ordeal with bad batch of PCBs form chinaland. the delay took an extra 3 months for me to get my pedal but he knock some off the price for having to deal with the wait.

he was very nice and in good contact for a person building all of these things himself while Oliver is on tour.
