Does the organ thing pretty well, i've never heard it used any other way. Seems to be sort of a one trick pony to me. But then again, i've never played around with one, so anything i say should be taken with a grain of salt.

The HOG can do WAY more than just the organ stuff. The Freeze + Gliss mode is AMAZING, and the sweepable LPF can do cool stuff too.
Here's a clip of the EHX guys doing the intro synth from "Won't Get Fooled Again" on a HOG

I know the guitarist from The Horrors uses a HOG on almost every song on their newest album. The settings he uses, however, I have no idea.
I've seen them live twice and he stomps on the controller for it quite a bit.

I am going to check out a used one with the foot controller next week.
I’ll let you know my impressions and if it works with bass.

This is true. I hear the POG works better with bass, though. I think it's just voiced differently.
In any case, the freeze+gliss mode is amazing. Using the expression button for quick octave bends is amazing. You can use the expression pedal for a whammy effect. You can set up synthy chords with it. You can make "harmonics" fade in as you play. You can do violin-like swell effects. You can choke off the sustain for synthy bass effects into an envelope filter. You can do multi-octave harmonies into a fuzz box a la "Blue Orchid." You can access all of these effects that you'd use quickly with the foot controller.
It's a great pedal. Seriously. If you have use for that stuff, get one. I sold mine because I didn't use its effects enough and kinda wanted to separate the effects into other pedals (which I still haven't purchased because most of them don't exist). It's a fantastic piece of gear.
The only thing I'd warn you about is that it's not true bypass. The buffer is fantastic-- actually improved my clean tone. But the low output impedance of any buffer can make your fuzz pedals sound different.

I think there is a true-bypass mod for it on the EHX forum

I use mine to replace a whammy and a pog. It is different from both. When played alone, I think it sounds a bit more synthy, but I have enough pedals to fatten it up to make it sound much more natural. I use it to make my guitar a bass (fattened up with a Tube Zipper). I realy only use the organ sound for one song. Other than that, I do lots of other things.
Someone said it can do a 12-string guitar effect, but I'll be damned if I can figure out how.

Ehh... once you have a pedal that large, I think it would make more since just to put it in a true bypass box. I can understand why they made it a buffered output. I just think, given the popularity of true bypass circuitry, they would have used a relay for true bypass like they did on the POG.
