Did he just buy 6 sitar strings and put them on a Silvertone 1448?

it's a bridge design that converts a normal six-string into an electric sitar. it was developed by vinnie bell in the '60s. there's one in production now for the late '90s danos RIs just have to add a tailpiece.

the extended flatness of the bridge adds the necessary "buzz" to make a normal guitar sound like a sitar. at least that's how the coral/danelectro electric sitars work and the gotoh sitar bridge.
