Does putting copper shielding in a guitar really do a whole lot? Like, is it a big difference in keeping noise out, or is it one of those things for guys who can hear teh difference between 1 ply and 3 ply pickguards?

Do it, do it, do it... Yeah it works, I built my own strat and with copper shielding and noisy 60's pickups... doesn't make a sound... although without the noise it kinda feels like something's missing... but the noise reduction is certainly very noticeable, the difference between copper and the much cheaper alternative of aluminium shielding though.. that's probably the difference between 1 & 3 ply pickguards.

It works.
Copper is better than aluminum because you can solder to it.
Not helpful on a plastic pick guard, bit on a back routed guitar you can put all the grounds to one spot.

I see. Am I supposed to cover the whole body cavity, or just a portion of it? Keep in mind this guitar only has one lipstick pup.
