For those of you who are experienced, , would I benefit from getting a Stereo Memory Man (I already own a Memory Boy and love it). It just has some cool features that my Memory Boy doesn't like a looper, reverse echo, and other cool stuff!

Yes. i've owned both. Right now I have the Memory Boy. The Hazarai has a lot of options that shouldn't be overlooked. If you love delay it'll satisfy. The looper is fun too, I spent three hours with it just recording loops that eventually sounded like music from Legend of Zelda. Some people complain it kills "tone" but I've never experienced this.

I say go for it.

I am about to have both, because I love analog delay (memory boy) and I like the flexability and looping of digital delay (SMM/H) and all for a really good price. Can't go wrong!

Cool! Thanks for your responses! I was at my local GC the other day and saw a used Memory Man w/ Hazarai for $150. Not sure if it came with a power supply or not. It looked to be in good shape.

They do pretty different things, I'd keep both for sure.
The SMMH can do all sorts of weird chorus/reverb/flangey/reverse stuff the boy can't do, and the looper can get pretty wacky as well.

Well ... I bought the unit from GC and it turns out it is new but doesn't have the box, manual, or power supply. It uses the same power supply that I got with my Memory Boy so that shouldn't be a problem. Time to test it out!

i think $150 is a pretty good deal. all things considered. honestly. i think the main thing is what do you need. esp. if its an either/or scenario. i haz the SMMwH & i am thinking about getting the Memory Toy simply becuz i'll probably need something to serve as a long delay & i don't really need the extra modulation features of teh Memory Boy and its compact. i already haz like two big-ish pedals in my chain now & i am considering get a Cathedral so that will be three. & i am considering getting a 2nd Hazarai but i really won't know if i'll need 3 delays until i get teh Cathedral.

at this point. i don't see why just "collecting" all of them would be out of the ordinary. i mean for less than the cost of an Empress Superdelay (or 2 Line 6 DL4) in theory one could get the Toy, Boy & Deluxe boy retail AND have money left-over for half the purchase of a USED Hazarai. i mean i don't want the Memory Boy but i most certainly would not be against having it around or using it on a 'B' board or something of that nature.

Right on. I know what you mean. I think the EHX effects provide good features for the money. I'm liking that the Memory Boy has an expression controller input, which the SMMwH lacks. However, I'll probably be gassing for the Deluxe Memory Boy.

I have a Memory Toy and an SMM/H, and they're two very different beasts. Love the hell out of both of 'em, too. The Toy is great for classic smooth and dark repeats. It also does a pretty good job being a reverb pedal, really smooth sounding "room" type verbage. I dig it.

The SMMH does everything you could ever do with echo, pretty much. I haven't had mine for long, but it has already blown my mind. The looper is awesome. Reverse anything is awesome, and not just for crazy sounding shit, either. I can get some really nice atmosphere and lushness using the reverse modes. The multi tap is insane. Even if you never find a plausible application for it, its still worth it to play with. The normal echoes are great, too. You can get them to sound decently analog with some tweakage. Oh, and you can also get chorus, flange and ring mod sounds out of it and they're pretty neat.

Go for it. Its fun.

Yeah, I'm having fun playing/learning both the Memory Boy and the SMMwH. The reverse mode is slick and so is the loop function. I haven't played much with the multi-tap modes. There's a lot of functionality built into that pedal, that's for sure! Definitely a fun creative pedal.

I love how you can filter loops! I loop a hook and start it off all lo-fi and then slowly take the filter off, it's SWEET

IMO the "plausible application" aspect is a basic misconception. it is very easy to become initially overwhelmed--or 'lost in the Hazarai'--that one loses sight of the fact that teh EHX SMMwH does a lot of basic delay functions really well. i think there is a common stereotype of what a delay should do & what it should "sound" like & EHX haz clearly shattered that notion: the Digitech Digidelay & the EHX SMMwH are two-cult status delays that have clearly made their mark. clearly. w/o question.
