How come everyone hates...

.. the rythm circuit on Jazzmasters???
I love them, they're so useful... It just expands the possibilities of the Jazzmaster but for some reason, no one else seems to say anything good about them. Hell, even J. Mascis blocks his! What is going on?

I think it's pretty damn useful
What I hate is the pickup toggle placement. I prefer them back near the knobs or on the upper horn.
I'm always hitting it with my leg.

The rhythm circuit is like, the only thing I use on my Jag, I mean the one that isolates the neck completely. If I wanted to sound like a pussy I would use the bridge pickup.

maybe it's different on jag but i don't really notice that much of a difference between the rhythm circuit and the just using the neck pickup. i ripped mine out while changing pickups. it just cluttered up the insides of the guitar

It'll give you two settings for the neck pup, which is the one I usually use with my ear piercing eq settings.

i notice a different, but not enough to justify ever really using. for me anyways, i'm not super picky or precise with anything

Also, while I don't hate the rhythm I usually prefer tonz with more of a bite so the other positions do it for me.

I can see it sounding too dark and muddy for some people the circuit only takes away more treble and if you have your guitar set up a certain way you can get the same exact tone from isolating the neck pickup on the main circuit... I put a darker cap in the rhythm circuit and get a gorgeous sound pairing it with pedals like the arc flash and SPAE... the dark thick sound really punches the arc flash in the nuts and makes it sing....

On my Jag I use my rhythm circuit for bad ass solos and all sorts of tweedleeeedwweeeedooooodwaaaaaaa stuff cause it's smooth like Marlboro. I haven't really noticed a difference between the normal neck pickup and the rhythm circuit on my JM though...so maybe that's why people don't like it?
